On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, we will enjoy a special evening at the theater as The Smith Center for the Performing Arts presents a children’s musical entitled Mr. Popper’s Penguins. We will watch this live production on stage in Reynolds Hall from seats on the main orchestra floor. Every person attending with this Las Vegas Area Council of Boy Scouts of America group will also receive a uniform patch from the theater and a commemorative uniform pin from The Smith Center! All for $21.95 per person. Show will start at 6:30 p.m and end at 7:30 p.m.. Boys may wear their scout uniforms, but this is not mandatory.
Based on the children’s classic by Richard and Florence Atwater, this delightful 60-minute, action-packed musical features adorable puppets by leading puppetry designer Nick Barnes. With a plot similar to the Hollywood film starring Jim Carrey, this show’s catchy songs and snappy lyrics tell the tale of Mr. Popper, a painter and decorator astounded to suddenly receive a packing crate full of penguins. The perfect family treat for ages 4 – 104.
Order tickets by calling group sales at The Smith Center 702-749-2348 no later than March 1. You must order by telephone through the group sales department in order to receive your uniform patches & pins (these are not available to the general public). Every person who enters the theater must purchase a ticket regardless of age. Troops must be chaperoned by at least two adults. Individual children must be chaperoned by one adult.
The impact of arts education goes far beyond the obvious.
