“Scouting’s Journey to Excellence” is the BSA’s council performance recognition program designed to encourage and reward success and measure the performance of our units, districts, and councils. It is meant to encourage excellence in providing a quality program at all levels of the BSA.
This performance award is comprised of a scorecard where certain performance actions in thirteen required criteria will net a pack a given number of points. These criteria involve things such as membership, rank advancement, outdoor activities, registered leadership, day camp attendance, service, recruitment, budget, meeting frequency, physical fitness, joint pack-troop activities, and charter renewal.
Bronze level requires earning points in at least 10 criteria plus 700 points, Silver level requires earning points in at least 10 criteria and 1,000 points, and Gold level requires earning points in at least 10 criteria and 1,600 points.
The pack committee or the Cubmaster is responsible for seeing to it that a pack participates in Journey to Excellence.
